The leadership position in PTA production area began with the development of purification technology in which a hydrogenation process followed by crystallization was used to make PTA since 1958 instead of distillation to produce the ester, DMT. Since this monumental breakthrough, BP has remained the technology leader through active developments in its proprietary process. The proportion of PTA made from this technology was around 80% of the total production globally at present. BP's PTA Business continued to focus efforts on maintaining its technological edge in the industry after that. Started in early 2008, BP Zhuhai PTA #2 Project was the biggest, most technologically advanced single-train PTA unit in the world. In 2013, BP Zhuhai PTA#3 Project will adopt revolutionary ISOX technology.

Initially he started working as a Chemical Engineer in the Engineering Department of Sandoz (now NOVARTIS) in Switzerland where he acquired his first industrial experiences in designing and commissioning of various pharmaceutical and chemical processes.

Since 1989 Markus Schircks work with EMS-INVENTA AG, now Uhde Inventa-Fischer. For many years he took a leading position in designing and commissioning of continuous and batch polymer plants.

In 1997 Markus Schircks had switched to the sales department. Since 2000 he is responsible for Uhde Inventa-Fischer's sales and marketing activities in China.

Today, Polygenta converts 1,500,000 waste PET bottles per day into 100% recycle content, premium quality polyester yarns, sold to world-class customers in India and exported worldwide. Supported by leading investors, Polygenta / perPETual¡¯s business plan for 2012-2016 includes significant growth in India and abroad, with the commercial deployment of top quality 100% recycled based yarns from Q3 2012 onwards and the construction of five new glycolysis units in India, Singapore, Oman and Brazil.

Dr. de Nazelle has been a member of the ¡°Chemical and Environmental Engineering Consultative Committee¡± of the National University of Singapore (2001-2003). He is a member of the Expert Panel on Carbon Capture and Utilization at the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A* Star) in Singapore. Other involvement into Joined Industry Partnerships (JIPs) includes his participation (representing Shell) to the CO2 Capture and Storage Committee of the Energy Technology Institute (ETI, UK). An entrepreneur in creating both profitable and sustainable businesses, G¨¦rard de Nazelle has presented the success story of Polygenta at various conferences as a (modest) example of innovation driven growth.

He holds an MSc degree (Chem. Eng) from ENSIC (France) and a PhD (Physics) from Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands).
